We handcraft both portraits and signage in-house, but one sign that will never be printed is "No Animals Allowed." Pet-specific, and sittings involving them, are among our absolute favorites.
At Butler Portraits, we believe pets are family. The animals in each of our own lives are included in the portaits that we intend to pass down through generations as family heirlooms. For that reason, we always serve all furred, feathered, and scaled kinds.
One of our repeat clients hurried over to the Butler Booth at a home and garden show this past spring, ecstatic that their family of two humans, two exotic birds, and eight dogs, were on the front page of one of our general brochures.
The day of their sitting, all eight dogs came scurrying into the studio, excited as ever to have their portraits done by Mr. Daniel Butler. All animals were so energized, in fact, that their human companions had four tiny tails in each hand, to focus the pups for that purr-fect portrait that adorns our advertising. Just like that, a gorgeous moment was captured forever.
And where an image or two may fall short during the sitting because, as you probably know, animals can be pleasantly unpredictable (especially ten of them), we have a method for the madness!
Butler artists are able to swap out faces in the digital dark room, and even super-impose entire sections. A past client noticed a 40x60" portrait of five dogs all perched and poised on the rocks of "Butler Beach," and couldn't believe what they were seeing. All five canine companions were facing the camera, ears perked, each with a stunning expression and strong pose. Each of the five dogs were photographed by Mr. Butler seperately, at varying times, on different rocks, and were placed together after the portrait sitting.
Ultimately, it is a great joy that we share with our clients providing them the optimum best portraits of the animals they hold dear.
